How to Hear the Voice of God Through Your Dreams

Someone once challenged a CBN writer and said,

“…It is easy to say The LORD told me to leave this or do that, and I was blessed down the road because of it. Anyone who can present a way one can know that the voice they are hearing is from God, not man or Satan, would change the world. That’s probably why the world hasn’t changed.”

Many times, the subject of hearing the voice of God is slightly ambiguous, not because God is not speaking clearly, but because, as humans, we find it hard to decipher what He is saying.

Fortunately, God does not have a speaking problem; it is we who have a hearing problem. That’s the same way of saying. “God is speaking; it is we who are not hearing.

I received Christ in 1994, at the age of seventeen. It has not been all smooth journeys. There have been a lot of twists and turns, but in the last twenty years, I have heard God severally. I shared my experience with the different ways God speaks to us in three of my books, How God Speaks to Us, Beside the Still Waters, and Listening Prayer

And one of those powerful ways God speaks to us is through dreams.

In the last several days, I have been talking about hearing God through dreams in the live daily broadcast. And it’s been awesome. We’ve received hundreds of dreams, and people are learning to use biblical symbols to understand their dreams.

Here are some facts I have tried to drive home:

1. Your dreams are interpreting your present challenges and showing what to do about them
2. Your dreams are showing you the right prayers to pray so that you don’t keep praying amiss
3. Your dreams are bringing some clarity over your many requests.
4. If you don’t always remember your dreams, the devil is robbing you of essential spiritual direction

On the third day of the dream broadcast, I talked about how to understand your dreams, and I gave the following tips:

1. The first and most important rule about listening through your dreams is this: If you have a similar dream more than once, or twice, you need to pay serious attention.
2. Why you must write down your dreams
3. Why you should never trust dream interpretation from the internet, Google search or social media
4. How to look for Biblical symbols in your dreams

A precious sister wrote to me that after our prayers in one of those mornings, she had three dreams and remembered them clearly. Usually, she doesn’t remember her dreams. Though I am yet to share my thoughts with her, I believe those dreams are bringing some clarity into her prayer points and other things.

Stop despising your dreams, beloved. Learn to listen through them. God may be coming through to you through them
