Is Your Mind Under Attack? – Deliverance of the Mind

Introduction.

You’ve heard so many things said about the mind. Great books have been written about it. Great quotes said about it. You agree that your mind is the engine room of your life and destiny. It is the seat of power, where everything about your life is decided and then executed. You’ve heard statements like, “You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength;” “Change your thoughts, and change your world, etc.”

Many great men have made many great statements and quotes implying that our minds are where our limitations or breakthroughs are. Even the bible says that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).

We know these quotes and have read these books, and are making strong efforts to channel our minds the right way, have peace of mind and fulfill the plan of God for our lives.  But it seems that the more we try, the more we struggle and fail in the process.

Why?

Simple.

There is a spiritual battle going on against our minds daily. Without addressing this spiritual battle with the Power of God, we’ll find that our efforts to control and use our minds properly are not working.

The mind is the most crucial part where spiritual battles are fought. Advanced Learners Dictionary defines the mind as the part of a person, usually considered to be the brain that they use to think and imagine things. We need to learn to protect our minds from the ‘fiery arrows’ of demonic spirits which continually shoot wicked projectiles to ruin our lives.

The Apostle Paul says that we should put on the helmet of salvation. The helmets work is to secure the head, where the brains are. We need to stand with Scripture and use the weapons we have to conquer the enemy.

Signs That Your Mind Is Under Attack

In March 2008, I had a ghastly accident. I and two others in the car were saved only by the hand of God. But that experience impacted my life and mind in many ways.

First, I developed a phobia for driving. When I eventually started driving after five years, I would never overtake a vehicle no matter how slow it was running ahead of me. Sometimes, the exact picture of that accident would play in my imagination while driving and I would feel like I would have another accident. I kept on fighting with this until I decided to surrender myself for deliverance.

That was when I realized that the situation was actually much more serious than I thought. The spirit of suicide had gained access to my mind through that accident and was attacking me. Several times, I would have thoughts of suicide for no just cause. Other times I would feel like I would die and that I should call my wife and give her all my details so she would be able to cater for our kids when I’m no more.

Imagine that.

The battle for the mind is real.

The devil, our adversary, and his demons look for any kind of loophole and open door (like accidents, illness, pains, betrayals, marriage failure, etc) and would capitalize on it to unleash all manner of attacks against your mind. He will try to steal your faith for life and implant fear of the unknown. He will try to steal your peace of mind and get you confused.

Friend, it’s not a physical battle only. It’s spiritual. That’s why all of the mind tricks out there are not helping you enough to bring your mind under control and enjoy peace of mind.

Sometimes, when we talk about deliverance, people mistake it for those who have demons in them. Yes, it’s for those who are under demonic attack. But it also includes freedom from anything and everything that is messing up with the life of God in you. It includes freedom from all manner of oppression, be it in the mind, in the head, in the imagination, etc.

When your mind is bombarded with all manner of negative vibes and your fears, anxieties and depressions increase, you need mind deliverance. When you begin to lose faith for life and begin to feel that you’re really gonna die, or that you’re cursed, you need mind deliverance.

Here are signs of a mind under attack…

• Unable to carry out prayers, or experiencing difficulty in prayers. g. your mind always wandering off no matter how you try to concentrate.
• Feeling sleepy at odd hours.
• Mental sickness
• Severe headaches/ unexplainable migraines
• Mind blankness/short circuiting of the mind e.g. you become blank while making a presentation and can’t coordinate
• You forget a lot.
• Sudden unexplainable drop in performance
• Not understanding or remembering anything you have learned
• Inability to concentrate and read the bible
• Frequent loss of consciousness
• Feeling ‘things’ crawling or moving in your head
• All manner of dreams and nightmares almost every night.
• Evil visions when partially asleep
• Feeling of being controlled
• Having thoughts of death, suicide, etc.

It’s time to do battle with the lies of the enemy in your mind.  It’s time to analyze and think about what you are thinking about. It’s time to recognize all the lies the enemy is sowing in your mind and begin to resist them in the name of Jesus.

Identifying the Lies in Your Mind

The first step towards mind deliverance is to identify the lies the enemy has been bombarding you with. Think about what you are thinking about. Make a note of the lies currently warring in your mind. List out your fears and concerns. Then compare what they say with what the WORD of God says.

For instance, are you worried that your prayers will not be answered? Write it down. Are you worried that your spouse will leave you? Write it down. Are you worried that your children won’t serve the LORD? Write it down. Are your thoughts telling you that you’ll die in your sickness? Write it down. Are you worried that you won’t have money to train your kids? Write it down.

What are those threatening thoughts currently going on in your head? Make a list of them.

Then go to the scriptures and compare those concerns and what the Bible says. You’ll now see that those concerns are most likely lying to you. You’ll now see that those thoughts are projected from the pit of hell to keep you down.

You now need to pick up the WORD and begin to address yourself. As you recognize a lie to your mind, arise and defend yourself out loud, replying it with what the WORD says. That means speaking to yourself, to Satan and to the evil forces out loud, binding them in the Name of Jesus, and forbidding them to lie to you and to use your mind.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.  – 2 Cor. 10:4-5

I used to think that this scripture referred to binding demons only. But as you can see, it also includes arresting thoughts and false imaginations that wander off and argue in our minds about the truths of God’s Words. We must forcefully arrest them and bring them into submission, to the obedience of Christ.

Christ is the WORD of God. So it simply means we must command these thoughts and imaginations that exalt themselves against the WORD of God to reverse and submit to the WORD.

The Amplified Bible puts it this way:

The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 

We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ.  – 2 Cor. 10:4-5 (AMP)

When something is sophisticated, it means classy, refined, stylish and cultured. It’s possible that the devil can project some thoughts, imaginations, and arguments that look classy, but ultimately are against the Word of God.

When Satan told Christ to turn a stone into bread, it looked very ok, and even a nice thing to do. It looked like he was trying to show concern about Christ’s hunger. After all, Christ had fasted for 40 days and nights and was hungry, and there was no close place to get bread to eat. So it looked like the devil was showing genuine concern. But he was after his own schemes.

Friend, there may be some elegant thoughts and sophisticated ideas and imaginations the devil is bombarding you with. It’s time to recognize them and shut them down with the Word of God. It’s time to begin to address yourself, your mind and your imagination to come into obedience with God’s Word for your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I bring my mind into submission to Thee this day. Help me to recognize and resist every form of lie that the enemy projects into my mind.

I claim sound mind, clarity, and peace of mind from now onwards,
